Overview |
What is the Book of the Unicorn and why is Queen Elizabeth I searching for it so desperately? What ancient scandal threatens her throne as she fights to avoid executing Mary Queen of Scots? And who is the man painfully waking up in a dungeon with no memory of who he is or how he got there? Unable to trust anyone, the Queen must recruit where she can. David Becket and Simon Ames, the two mismatched heroes of 'Firedrakes Eyes', unwillingly find themselves in the thick of a dark and murderous game... |

This was a heavy book to read, but it was enjoyable. The mood throughout is quite dark, and the big scandal is explained quite early on. Most of the book is a frantic chase, where the lines between friend and foe are blurred or invisible. Although I was keen to finish this book, once it was finished there didn't seem much to rave about: it was enjoyable, but not riveting. |
