Being trained by the Assassin's Guild in Ankh-Morpork did not fit Teppic for the task assigned to him by fate. He inherited the desert kingdom of Djelibeli rather earlier than he expected (his father wasn't too happy about it either), but that was only the beginning of his problems...

My Opinion

I generally like books set outside Ankh-Morpork, as the Discworld is always an interesting place to explore, but Djelibeli, stuck in the past, doesn't strike me as an ideal tourist destination.

Teppic is an interesting character, and so is his father, once he's dead and able to think without brains, but I thought the rest of this story was halfway to being as dry and lifeless as the desert it's set in. I don't understand stories that involve time doing weird things, so I probably wasn't as interested as I usually am in a Discworld novel.
