Overview |
Three nights of terror at a house called Edbrook. Three nights in which David Ash, there to investigate a haunting, will be the victim of horrifying and maleficent games. Three nights in which he will face the blood-chilling enigma of his own past... ... and the true nightmare will begin. |

I saw the movie based on this book years ago and loved it, so I had high expectations after finally getting my own copy of this. David is more of a gritty character than the movie, as expected – he has far more of a past than the movie suggested, and there are more characters involved. The nature of his own childhood tragedy is markedly different – and far less nice – than what I remembered from the movie, and the secret history of Edbrook is also different. Storyline adaptations aside, I found this book to be just as enjoyable as the movie, if not more, as you can really learn what makes Ash tick. There's far more detail, particularly about the house itself, and you can really lose yourself in the story. |
